2017 Computer Science Summer Camp

Summer Camp

The Computer Science Department offers a wide variety of summer activities to surrounding communities in order to help teach camp students about science, computing, design and most importantly how to express themselves by using their creativity.

The Computer Science Summer Camps offer day camps for children ages 7-18.  Camps focus on topics such as computer game design, Arduino programming with the Stranger Things Lights, 3D printing and modeling, Minecraft, introduction to Java, intermediate Java programming, and advanced computer game design with Unity.  We offer 2 weeks of camp during the summer.  All camps are Monday -Thursday from 12-4 pm.  They begin the week of June 12, 2017.

The cost for the Summer Computer Camp is $125 which includes all supplies and a snack during the camp time. There are limited Scholarship opportunities available. To apply for a Scholarship the camper would write a letter stating why he/she would like to attend camp and provide all of their contact information, along with a letter of recommendation. This letter can be uploaded online while applying, or sent to: Eastern Kentucky University, Department of Computer Science, Attn: Cindy Bragg, 521 Lancaster Ave., Wallace Building 412, Richmond, KY 40475. You can also send your letter by email to cindy.bragg@eku.edu . Letters will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee, and the camper will then be notified of whether they have been chosen to receive the scholarship. Everyone will be contacted as to if they did or did not received the scholarship.

This camp is so much fun and all who attend really have a good time while learning and interacting. The campers have a sense of self accomplishment of a finished product. Please allow us to share in this learning experience. We hope to see your camper soon!
